Alloy Update


TLDR - Character balance changes, new enemies, new assists, new final boss, and system updates.


General

  • The timer now stops on the final boss kill. The timer now also shows milliseconds
  • The mouse no longer takes priority after a few seconds when a controller or keyboard is inputting.
  • Changed the way loading is handled. Should use less memory.
  • You can now pick your character in training mode.
  • Added more options to the graphics settings like vsync, resolution, and display mode.

Steam Deck

  • The deck controller is now the default player 1 controller at the start of the game.


Gamemodes

Standard

I thought lives would make for an interesting experience and make death be more valuable. However, if you're really good it doesn't matter and if you're not then it was really punishing ESPECIALLY when you're at the end. There really isn't any in between so I decided to just remove the lives altogether. As for the rest of standard mode, I added a checkpoint to fix the unnecessary padding when you lost to the rival boss. 

  • REMOVED - Lives are removed for standard insane.
  • UPDATE - Added a checkpoint to the rival boss when defeated.
  • UPDATE - Changed the chances of hp dropping from enemies
  • REWORKED - The scoring system has gotten a visual and minor gameplay update. The best player's performance now gets merged every round to the score. (Newgrounds exclusive) the next player's best score/time is shown in the visuals.

Freeplay

  • NEW - Now supports spawning assists
  • NEW - Now supports spawning vehicles
  • NEW - Now supports gamepads  (player 1 only)


Characters

General

  • FIX - Characters should now properly leave the zipline when pressing the interact key
  • FIX - Homing projectiles now lose sight of invincible units.
  • FIX - No longer randomly cancels the first hit.
  • BUFF - (Co-op) now restores 2 hp instead of 1 when reviving.


Alloy (Released!)


Pico

Pico felt weak compared to all the other characters. I'm increasing his numbers to be on par with everyone else.

  • BUFF - Increased basic attack damage from 2 to 4
  • BUFF - Increased bat attack damage from 3 to 5
  • UPDATE - Pico can now redirect GF's boombox



Cassette Girl

Her basic attacks felt a little slower than the others because of her attack speed ramp-up. Increased the time it takes to hit max attack speed and increased the attack speed cap

  • FIX - Now properly cancels from a zipline when using her attacks 1 and 2
  • BUFF - Increased attack speed bonus from 30% to 50%
  • BUFF - Increased attack 2 damage from 2 to 3
  • BUFF - Attack 2 now lifts enemies.


Darnell

Nene did Darnell's job but had one more hp and higher mobility. I increased his special damage to alleviate this.

  • BUFF - Increased tick rate of special from 0.15 to 0.12 every second.
  • BUFF - Increased damage special from 1 to 2 per tick.



 

Nene

Nene's attacks and movements were inconsistent with the other characters. I polished them to prevent her from dropping air combos and help her land more hits. Her special move was REALLY strong and could instantly kill bosses before they even had a chance to swing once. I want to keep her execution strength but eliminate the instant wins.

  • UPDATE - Increased the hitbox size for all basic attacks
  • UPDATE - Increased all active hitbox frames for all basic attacks by 1
  • UPDATE - The first basic attack now pushes nene slightly further when on the ground.
  • UPDATE - Up tilt now launches more consistently.
  • REMOVE - Air attacks no longer move nene.
  • NERF - Reduced the damage threshold of the knife stacks from 2 times the damage to 1.5 of the damage.


Hank

Hank got a couple of buffs because of Alloy. He should have good ranged and melee in exchange for survivability and risk. I also increased his player model.

  • Increased player model by 5%
  • BUFF - Slightly increased the length of all his basic attacks to match the new model size.
  • BUFF - Increased pistol rate of fire by double its original.
  • BUFF - Increased damage per hit of assault rifle from 1 to 2



Son

I think Son is in a good spot right now, but he is definitely on the strong side. Reduced his damage to make sure he's not absolutely destroying the game.

  • NERF - Reduced the damage of the special from 15% of missing hp to 10% of missing hp.



Girlfriend

Girlfriend's survival was a little too high. I'm toning down her survivability but keeping her hitting potential.

  • NERF - Reduced invincibility timer from her special AFTER she throws the boombox
  • NERF - Reduced hp from 5 to 4



Assists

The time of the assist coming out felt inconsistent and hard to determine for a lot of people. I changed it to be more consistent.

  • UPDATE - Assist now come out consistently 1 sec after touching the assist pickup.
  • NEW - additional assists added to the game.


Enemies

- Added more minions to the enemy pool 

- NEW - A special enemy now spawns in standard mode

Dadbot

They are supposed to be big threats, but not super spongey to fight. 

  • NERF - Hp reduce from 200 to 100

Foamy

  • FIX - No longer slides when taunting
  • UPDATE - now drops more stuff in co-op.


Bosses

- Added new bosses to the boss pool

Tombot

  • FIX - No longer shoots millions of missiles when Darnell throws fire at him.


Maps

  • NEW - Factory map available.


Music

Dieswyx

  • Updated song list
  • NEW - Additional track added.

Djjaner

  • NEW - Djjaner now has an additional separate track.
