Hey! Just finished insane Standard runs just moments ago and i'd love to offer some of my ideas at least for newgrounds icons that could potentially be pulled into the game! My thought process was Old icons before new, so after a bit of deliberation i believe that two people whom deserve a pull into the fray is between Samurai Asshole and P-bot, both characters whom i think were amazingly incorporated into NG Rumble and deserve another chance to fight! though i'm sure adding both would increase the workload quite a bit so ill narrow the decision down to one.
I believe that S.Asshole deserves the spot, since between the two i feel like he is fading into obscurity much faster than P-bot, and he could have some interesting moves involving slashes and spins, perhaps a big Crowd Control spin to trap enemies and build up a large combo, etc. etc. He is also one of the absolute oldest creations for both newgrounds and Tom and he just needs a glow up, that is all! Good luck on both development and any other ventures you may partake on your journey into the future~
Two things, 1: Hank is literally the most insane character in the game ( I even beat 2 insane mode maps with him ) and 2: Can you please add someone from Eddsworld into the game.
And Now a moveset for Tom ( from Eddsworld ): Attack 1: Cut to the Chase: Tom uses a Chainsaw to saw through enemies. Attack 2: Harpoon Attack: Tom uses a Harpoon Gun to command grab enemies and pull himself towards the enemies. Special: Molotov Cocktails: Tom throws Molotovs. Rush: Drunk: Tom becomes drunk and becomes more aggressive, dealing more damage, while becoming slightly less durable
MacOS isn't planned for the next update, but maybe in the future I'll be able to upload for mac. So the only way to play it on Mac rn is through newgrounds and through a browser.
I managed to play the game on my TV through Steam Link, and I have to say it was a fun experience to enjoy from the comfort of my bed. I think co-op would be a lot of fun with a friend while playing on the big screen.
On another note, could you add rumble/haptic feedback in the next update? I think it would make the action feel more immersive and satisfying.
We are still actively looking at the most responsible way to approach this as we do research and work on the ENA update. There are discussions about everyone's opinions happening actively in the Rushdown Rivals discord.
I have a nutty idea but hear me out what if Sanford and Deimos were playable by using a switch mechanic similar to bloodstain or castlevania 3 but they share the same health but in a unique way where Sanford has 3 hit points and Deimos has two hit points so if one gets taken down the player will automaticly switch to the other and both have their own unique ability.
Deimos will use knife attacks as primary and will use guns as a secondary but each fire arm will have four shots like Pico minus the auto aim and will start with the pistol but will passively get other guns like hank such as the burst fire smg, shotgun, and grenade launcher (and yes I am thinking of the ones from madness interactive game) and if Sanford goes down then the switch button changes to a parry like hanks making him a glass cannon but it could drain his ammo quickly due to it being limited.
Sanford will use his meat hook as primary and for secondary it'll be similar to son's chain but will be very different to where if Sanford use it mid air it'll pull him towards who or whatever it catches like he did in one of the episodes when he went up against a bunch of soldat's until they had to get Hank providing extra mobility and if Deimos goes down the switch button will change to the firearm button that functions as Deimos's secondary with the difference being that the pistol will change to the revolver but will function the same until Deimos is revived will be passed to him and vis versa making him a versatile fighter.
Now for the rush ability I am actually not sure I was thinking maybe it would be one of the power ups from the madness interactive game perhaps there would be an extra round in the guns before being discarded or reloaded if your using the pistol I am open to what other people may think and i hope you have an awesome day

i tried to use parsec to play with friend but they were not able to control anything we tried the assign controller part but it did not work as the start button was not working is there a fix or any other way to do something similar?
Make sure on the assign controller page that you see the controllers in the center, then move them left or right for player 1 or player 2. What controllers were you using? I'll check them out when I get the chance.
player 2 by default has no key binds for the keyboard and has to manually make those in the settings menu (the cog on the bottom left in the title menu). Go to 'controls' -> 'keyboard' and from there you can bind your keys. Make sure you have a key for jump and roll as that's the confirm and back buttons.

Try downloading 'RushdownRivalsLINUX2.appimage' instead of the zip version. Then put that file somewhere that you can remember. If you right click it, go to the properties and find a check box that says it's an 'executable' and enable it. It should hopefully launch. If not I think the os is specifically for Ubuntu.
Unfortunately, Gamemaker doesn't support 32-bit exports anymore in the new versions :(. Your best bet right now is to try the web version but the loading times might be long depending on your connection.
I love your game so much! Its so much fun when you see a new character appear on the battlefield from your favorite newgrounds shows lol (I litterally gasped when i saw salad fingers lol). I do have a question though, when you add ENA, how will you show her different emotions? And if so, will you use aspects from Dream BBQ?
I can't say too much about how we're gonna design her moves, But I could say that her moveset is gonna revolve around what we see before Dream BBQ's announcement since it's not out yet.
That's weird. I didn't touch the controller code at all so it should be the same. I did however increase the check size of what's plugged into your computer to find more controllers. Maybe there's something plugged into your computer that's making the character move?
The linux zip should have a file you can launch when you download it. You might have to manually launch it if you get it from the launcher (probably an error on my end). If that doesn't work try using the steam deck app image version (Though might have different prompts since it's made for the steam deck).
Quick question: Have you thought about adding music from API and NemesisTheory to the game? They are talented musicians of classic Newgrounds history, so it would be fitting to see tracks from them added to this game.
I do want more musicians and music for the game. However, we already have a lot of other music I need to use first before I'm able to get others on board.
was recommended this as inspiration for a pico moveset for something I'm working on, and GOD is this actually REALLY FUN i only played a general handful of the characters but i have to say nene's definitely my favorite so far I have to say I'm not the biggest fan of girlfriend having the devil wings, but this is all sick and I was almost screaming every time I saw each robot spawn in cause of all the references, ESPECIALLY when HATTY HATTINGTON appeared as a boss ???? (god i love battleblock theater) all in all, this is a great game and I can't wait to see where it goes if i had to recommend any newgrounds characters for future playables, I'd have to say Phil Eggtree from Riddle School for something particularly newgrounds-tied and well-known, or John Egbert from Homestuck for his series just crashing newgrounds once

Online multiplayer is on my radar, but not planning to come out any time soon since I'm still learning how to do it properly. I might get started on an early prototype since a lot of people want to play with their friends (including me). Though it might be a peer-to-peer type of online with manual port forwarding first then I'll move it up to dedicated.
If you do want to play with friends online, I do recommend Parsec. It streams your screen to your friends and they can connect to your pc and play 'online' with you.
ok so I feel like yall are already working on adding boyfriend, but as a suggestion maybe add Tankman as a playable character. or adding a four player mode. other than that I am looking forward to more updates. because I'm exited to to see where this game goes.
I've been playing this game a lot with my arcade stick and it feels very much like something that belongs in a dedicated cabinet. It would be neat if someone could put this game and a few other NG classics in an actual arcade cabinet.
That would be really cool to see this game in an arcade cabinet and if anyone wanted to do it I would 100% be okay with it. It's also really cool to hear that people are using arcade sticks for the game. Any problems with arcade sticks? Let me know and I'll try to fix them or add more support of stuff :)
Using an arcade controller isn't too different from a gamepad aside from the lack of twin stick controls, so there isn't anything to worry about for this game.
Anyways, have you thought about doing linear platforming stages in the style of Metal Slug or Sonic? It would allow for interesting challenges like speed or no-damage runs to add more depth to the game mechanics. The paths could go up, down, left, right, or anything between for varied stage design. You can look up GMTK on YouTube if you want more inspiration.
The original plan of the game was going to have a story mode that played pretty much like a typical beat em up with a linear path (Kinda like the Scott pilgrim game). Metal Slug was also one of the inspirations and concepts that we want to make.
Unfortunately, because of time and effort for a fun little passion project, I had to cut it. I developed this game mostly for HTML5 so I can upload it on Newgrounds. HTML5 has a lot of problems so I had to make a lot of compromises mostly regarding the size and load times.
It looks like people really like this game so I'll reconsider adding something similar to that when I have more time.
I have some character ideas for you!.The game is really funny so why can't I put my ideas in it?
P-Bot:He can be a tank-type of character.He is really stronger,but have less life than the average characters.I don't think he can fit as a normal character,he can be a trophy for beating certain amount of enemies or whatever your mind can think about lol.
Samurai A'shole:His katana and his speed together are really dangerous,but that doesn't matter because he is a samurai...actually,that don't make sense.
Tankman:The though guy and the ''''captain''''.Let's be honest,this guy will appear soon in the game,I know you're thinking on it xD.His average moves can be using fists and a Uzi,but I don't know if that's too OP or idk.
Convict:Another trophy character,but with a more harder way to unlock(I guess,unlocking first S.A. and after him doing the proccedure to unlock this guy).He is too OP,so I think I will not count his mimic powers 'cuz that will break the game xD.And I don't think the artist could handle drawing Convict versions of every character,so he will be though but in the normal way:only using a knife and his fists.
Mime and Dash:Can be joke character,but think about the possibilities lmao.
Henry Stickmin:This could be impossible,but if it happens,I love to see a moveset of him using a trap from every game.

For player 2, the jump button is also the start button. Thank you for the heads up on the shift button not working. I'll look into that.

Great game, but I've found a bug where after I completed a level, it doesn't give me the exit portal to end the level
update; at least I've gotten the confirmation that I've completed the level, its kinda weird that I didn't exit the level like the the other levels
I can still move around and pause and such, btw

Good game and good update but i have problems with the controller,literally dosen't respond and make the character run to the left.

I just download the game normally for PC windows and im not sure what kind of controller Is what im using,sorry.
What i can say Is the Controller works good in other games and in the previus versión of the game.

For some reason the game just capture the up and left direction at the same Time,i try to touch other buttons and nothing.
I even restar the controller option to se if maybe i touch something but no,Is the same.
